Legiones Cataegis: Meet the Legiones IV, V, X, XII, XIV
Legio IV: The Iron Lords
The Iron Lords were one of the first fully formed legios. Experts of siegecraft, the legio was able to demolish even the mightiest fortifications in a matter of hours, and reduced many strongholds and cities to rubble for the Emperor.
The Masters of the Siege
Any heavy weapon carried by a model with this special rule gains Sunder. In addition, models with this special rule may add 1 to the result when rolling on the Building Damage Table.
Inflexible
In a mission where one side is the Attacker and the other the Defender, the Iron Lords must always be the Attacker.
Iron Lords Unique Rite of War: The Sundering
Effects:
Any detachment using this Rite of War may take an additional Heavy Support choice on its Force Organisation Chart
Any model in the detachment with the Legiones Cataegis (Iron Lords) special rule is immune to Pinning
Limitations:
The detachment may take only a single Fast Attack choice on its Force Organisation Chart
The Iron Lords’ opponent gains 1VP for each of his units that ends the game within 3” of a fortification and is not locked in close combat
Legio V: The Star Hunters
The Star Hunters favoured a mobile style of warfare. Instead of being bogged down in long combats, they instead developed tactics based on repeated disengagements, which would allow them to bring down a series of devastating charges upon their enemy.
Feigned Retreat
Any model with this special rule gains Hit & Run in any turn in which it was charged.
Mobile Forces
Any detachment of the Star Hunters must take more Fast Attack choices than Heavy Support choices, unless it takes no Heavy Support Choices at all.
Star Hunters Unique Rite of War: Lightning Strike
Effects:
Any detachment using this Rite of War may take an additional Fast Attack choice on its Force Organisation Chart
Any model with the Legiones Cataegis (Star Hunters) special rule mounted on a Bike or Jetbike gains Furious Charge
Limitations:
The detachment may take only a single Heavy Support choice on its Force Organisation Chart
All models with the Infantry type in the detachment must purchase a dedicated transport
Legio X: The Storm Striders
The Storm Walkers quickly became renowned for their slow yet decisive style of warfare. Favouring armoured columns as support for their warriors, their forces excelled at delivering devastating blows at range.
Ungodly Resilience
Any model with this special rule gains Feel No Pain (4+) against attacks that penetrate its armour.
Ponderous Armoured Columns
In any mission where the Storm Striders have been allocated the first turn, their opponent may Seize the Initiative on a roll of 4+.
Storm Striders Unique Rite of War: Armoured Strike Force
Effects:
Any detachment using this Rite of War may take an additional Heavy Support choice on its Force Organisation Chart
Independent Characters with the Legiones Cataegis (Storm Striders) special rule gain Battlesmith
Limitations:
The detachment may take only a single Fast Attack choice on its Force Organisation Chart
Any detachment on the opposing side of a detachment using this rite of war automatically passes its Seize the Initiative Roll
Legio XII: The Hounds of War
More than any other Legio, the Hounds of war were known for their brutal hand to hand combat, typically expressed in a devastating charge that could break even the staunchest resistance.
Unto the Breach
A unit with this special rule may re-roll failed charge distances.
Out for Blood
If enemy units are within 12" during their Assault phase, models with this special rule must attempt to charge the closest enemy unit if able. If consolidating after combat, they must do so towards the nearest enemy model if one is present within 12".
Hounds of War Unique Rite of War: Blood and Thunder
Effects:
All models with the Legiones Cataegis (Hounds of War) special rule may replace their Chainswords with Chainaxes for free
All models with the Legiones Cataegis (Hounds of War) special rule gain Rage when in their opponent’s Deployment Zone
Limitations:
Detachments using this Rite of War may include only Walkers as their Heavy Support choices
Detachments using this Rite of War may not include Legio Gunline or Legio Veteran Gunline Squads
Legio XIV: The Twilight Raiders
The Twilight Raiders excelled at beating a foe before the battle had even begun. Through a combination of deadly night attacks, and the use of ancient and cruel weaponry, the Legio annihilated many enemies before they were even aware of them. So destructive was their way of warfare, however, that they lost the trust of many of the allies fighting with them.
Chemical Warfare
Successful wounds with Poison or Fleshbane must be rerolled against any model with the Legiones Cataegis (Twilight Raiders) rule. In addition, any independent characters with the Legiones Cataegis (Twilight Raiders) rule may take Rad Grenades for +5 points and up to three Phosphex Bombs for +10 points each
Shunned
A detachment of Twilight Raiders treats any allies it takes as Distrusted Allies if they would normally be Sworn Brothers or Fellow Warriors
Twilight Raiders Unique Rite of War: Night Raid
Effects:
In any game where this is a factor, the Twilight Raiders player may choose to automatically use the Night Fighting rules on Turn 1, and may also enforce them on Turn 2 on a 4+
All models with the Legiones Cataegis (Twilight Raiders) special rule gain the Night Vision special rule
The Twilight Raiders player may reroll any rolls to Seize the Initiative
Limitations:
Detachments using this Rite of War may not include an allied detachment
Detachments using this Rite of War may include only Walkers as their heavy support choices
